About me entry 1.

Lots of people are surprised that I wanted to be a shoe designer.  I guess, I don’t  seem the type.  As I was growing up I was very sporty and aspired to be a Wallaby!  My mum reminded me that when I went for my high school interview, when asked what I wanted to be when I left school, to answer, “A Wallaby or a shoe designer!” (I have friends following the Wallaby path for me!)

I don’t know why, but shoes always fascinated me.  From the age of seven, I used to sketch shoes, and I always wanted to have the latest shoe craze for boys. I remember I had an amazing pair of gym boots with flashing lights when I was about 5 years old.  I loved those shoes!

My interest in women’s shoes came later.  It must have been along with my interest in women… I developed and interest in fashion and style and  wanted to push the boundaries further with my design ideas – I have been doing so ever since.

About me entry 2.

When I finished school, I started a general fashion course, because there are no specialist shoe design courses in Brisbane. The course was generic and I began to realize that I had to focus on shoes, so I left and became a personal trainer to earn some money.  Being a personal trainer taught me a lot about people, about motivation and about self discipline. It was a great preparation for life.

But – always my thoughts turned to shoes. I then found a course in London that did nothing but shoe design! That was the course for me!  It was the best day of my life, when I was accepted into the London College of Fashion to study shoe design!  I never looked back – on my first day, I knew this was it.
